To be part of the Oscar Academy's class is deemed prestigious in film circles. For the year 2018, many Bollywoodians have been invited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the group that gives away the Oscar Awards every year) to be part of the class.

Shah Rukh Khan is the biggest Indian film personality of them all. Also included are the versatile Naseeruddin Shah, yesteryear actresses Tabu and Madhuri Dixit, Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee, Anil Kapoor, Aditya Chopra and others. From the domain of music are Usha Khanna and Sneha Khanwalkar. There are other less-known but accomplished Indian talents who have been invited. For example, Ballu Saluja, the editor of 'Dangal', is also on the list.

This is the first time that Indians and women from as many as 59 countries have been given this kind of higher representation in the list. There is a domination of Bollywood from India, though. Non-Hindi film industries have been given a raw deal.
