The Union Aviation Ministry said that it is planning to privatize 25 airports for the second phase of airport privatization. As per media reports, the airports in Chennai, Kolkata and Varanasi are among the important ones. The target is to mint Rs 10,000 Cr as an upfront payment as part of the privatization campaign.
From Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry airports figure.
This is the second phase of the privatization of Indian airways. The decision to privatize 25 airports was taken in December last year. The final list of the airports has been done only now.
Here is the complete list of 25 airports:
Chennai, Nagpur, Varanasi, Vijayawada, Bhopal, Dehradun, Trichy, Indore, Calicut, Coimbatore, Bhubaneshwar, Patna, Madurai, Tirupati, Ranchi, Jodhpur, Raipur, Rajahmundry, Vadodara, Amritsar, Surat, Hubli, Imphal, Agartala and Udaipur.
As per an ET report, the PPP model will adopt a new formula this time. One big airport will be given with one small airport to the private player.
