After spending two decades with Barcelona, soccer superstar Lionel Messi has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year contract. Though Messi's departure from Barcelona was not necessarily his choice, now PGS has the GOAT.
In a statement, Messi said "I am excited to begin a new chapter of my career at Paris Saint-Germain. Everything about the club matches my football ambitions. I know how talented the squad and the coaching staff are here. I am determined to help build something special for the club and the fans, and I am looking forward to stepping out onto the pitch at the Parc des Princes."
Following the earlier teasers that included Neymar’s No. 10 jersey, we knew a number change was coming for the Argentinian superstar. It was also reported that Neymar offered to give up No. 10 in order to bring in Messi, but Messi declined and opted to go back to the early days of his legendary career. Messi sported no 30 in his Barcelona debut before changing to No.19 in 2006. He then changed to his famous no. 10 after The departure of Ronaldinho from Barcelona in 2008.
PSG backup goalkeeper Alexandre Letellier agreed to give up No. 30 and the choice for Messi came down to no.19 and no.30 and he finally opted to go the GOAT way.
