French football club Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday announced that Lionel Messi and three other players of the club have tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of a French Cup match against Vannes.
The other players to test positive for the virus include full-back Juan Bernat, back-up goalkeeper Sergio Rico and young midfielder Nathan Bitumazala. As per PSG’s statement, all four of them are currently isolating and subject to appropriate health protocols. “The 4 players that tested positive for Covid-19 are Leo Messi, Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico, and Nathan Bitumazala. They are currently in isolation and are subject to the appropriate health protocol," PSG’s statement read.
Speaking about Neymar Jr.’s injury and his return to the team in the future, PSG added, “Neymar Jr. will continue his treatment in Brazil until 9 January with members of the Paris Saint-Germain medical and performance staff. His return to training is still expected to be in about 3 weeks.”
