Superstar Rajinikanth`s upcoming film Lingaa` has been progressing at a rapid pace. Now Kollywood abuzz with the release date of the K.S.Ravikumar directorial.

Reliable sources in the Kollywood circles reveal that team Lingaa` is sweating out and night to finish the film soon and bring it out as a Superstar`s Birthday treat to his fans. In other words plans are on to release the film on December 12, 2014.

The film has the Superstar appearing in dual roles in the story that has been bifurcated in to the pre independence and contemporary periods. Bollywood siren Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka are the female leads.A.R.Rahman scores the music while Rathnavely cranks the camera.

It is to be noted that Rajini`s latest film Kochadiiyaan` was touted to release as the star`s birthday treat to his fans but that could not happen since the motion capture technology caused delay in completion. Kochadiiyaan` directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin released on May 23 and is still running in theatres.
