Superstar doesn’t need festivals to release his movies, because his films itself a huge festival for his millions and millions of fans across the world and ‘Lingaa’ is redefining the term ‘mass’ by all means.
After the below par show with ‘Kochadaiyaan’, which is actually India’s first ever motion capture movie, Rajni has decided to star in a full fledge commercial movie, which is what he is known for. There came K.S. Ravikumar with a strong socio commercial drama and that’s how ‘Lingaa’ started.
Going by the trailer, songs, and reports from the camp, the story will have two timelines and the portions of the pre - independence era is sure to give goose bumps for the fans of Rajinikanth.
‘Lingaa’s arsenal powered with two Rajinikanth’s, Sonakshi, and Anushka in the lead roles. Santhanam and Karunakaran will be taking care of the comic portions while Dev Gill and Jagapathi Babu to flex their muscles against the superstar.
K.S. Ravikumar and his team have wrapped up the movie within 5 months and the shooting for the movie has been canned extensively in Karnataka and Hyderabad film city. The movie had its share of troubles via pro Kannada groups while camping near a dam for the climax shoot and a plagiarism claim by Ravi Ratnam for the story.
A.R. Rahman’s music got negative to a mixed response from critics, but the fans are hopeful that Rajni’s screen presence and making will erase the negativity. Rathnavelu aka Randy has cranked the camera and Rockline Venkatesh has produced the movie. EROS International has bagged the audio and movie rights and sold the TN theatrical release to Vendhar movies for a whopping price.
For the first time ever, Rajinikanth will be having a birthday release in his career and the movie will be released in more than 600 screes in TN which is a record on its own.
