Karthi has joined hands with his elder brother and actor Suriya to help farmers. The two brothers will be financially assisting farmers from Tamil Nadu through an NGO.
"After my movie 'Chinababu' ('Kadaikutti Singam in Tamil), we are eager to do something for the benefit of farmers. That's why we have started Uzhavan Foundation as a first step. Suriya recently donated Rs 1 crore towards the purpose. We are also introducing the Vuzhavan Awards this year," Karthi said.
The awards will honour the best farmers in collaboration with Zee TV. "We choose five farmers from the Delta region (of Tamil Nadu) and honour them with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each," the 'Khaidi' actor added.
The actor is currently doing Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyan Sevan'. As for Suriya', he awaits the release of 'Aakasam Nee Haddu Raa' on October 30, on Amazon Prime.
