Much like Pawan Kalyan, his ex-wife Renu Desai holds the cause of women very dear to her heart. Bengaluru's "night of shame" (the tragedy of women victimized by New Year night revelers who resorted to molestation/groping) has saddened her. Taking to Twitter, the actress-director has expressed her heart-felt views on the issue.
"Unless the society as a whole takes responsibility and especially the mothers raise better boys/men, it's sadly going to go on forever. The concept of respect towards a female should start from a very young age. Most men in India barely respect the women in their homes. And our pledge is 'all Indians are my brothers and sisters'. What about the small babies and kids who are raped? Yesterday, a 4-year-old girl was raped and killed! Most of the rapes happen in villages and small towns where women wear traditional clothes like 'langa ohni' or 'sarees'! It's the mindset, not clothes," she says in a hard-hitting manner.
Note that the safety and empowerment of women is one of the dear agendas of Pawan Kalyan, too. When he recently tweeted about 'Dangal', it was clear that he was most touched by its message of women empowerment.
