Another crown for precious jewel ‘Mani’! The legendary director of the country Manirathnam was honored with life time achievement award of Rs.10 lakhs, trophy, Mysuru Topi on Friday evening in the presence of Karnataka chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Karnataka governor Vajubkai Vala. Karnataka chalanachitra Academy chief SV Rajendra Singh Babu and KFCC President Sa Ra Govindu were present on the dais at Banquet Hall Vidhana Soudha.
The doyen of Indian cinema Manirathnam entering Vidhana Soudha for the first time and receiving the felicitation stated that Rs.10 lakh cash prize he has received will be donated to an organization that Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy chairman SV Rajendra Singh Babu recommends. Manirathnam handed over the cheque to Karnataka Chief Minister on the spot.
It was on the concluding day of 10th Bengaluru International Film Festival. The lifetime achievement award was constituted from this year.
The 10th BIFFE was held at 11 screens in Orion Mall with over 4000 people watching each day nearly 200 films. Among 200 80 were Kannada, 60 Indian language, 50 Asian films were in the festival.
Bengaluru Development minister KJ George, chief secretary K Rathnaprabha, Information department secretary Pankaj Kumar Pande, commissioner PS Harsha were also present.
