K Balachander’s 101st venture Poi, produced by his protege Prakash Raj, had been stuck at the starting line itself.

Despite the best efforts of Prakash Raj to market the movie, it remained unsold.

Finally, he left the matter to the marketing whiz Oscar Ravichandran. And now the film is set for release on September 28 or 29.

The movie stars Uday Kiran, Vimala Raman, Geetu Mohandas and dance master Sridhar and Balachander has attempted his hand at a youthful entertainer.

Poi has music by Vidyasagar. The audio is already a hit.

The film’s tagline ‘New wine in old bottle’ has evoked many surprises.

Meanwhile, the surprise about KB is that he is all set to venture back into stage.

The veteran director has announced that he will direct a stage play after a gap of several decades.

The 76-year-old veteran began his career as an ace stage director.
