The recent news of 12 school students being forced to confess to being lebians in Kolkata has stirred a controversy. Students and parents of the school have alleged that 12 girls of the 9th standard were threatened with ‘expulsion’ as they displayed ‘lesbian’ behaviour.

Reacting to this, the state’s Education Minister Partha Chatterjee has stated that lesbianism will not be allowed in schools and if the behaviour of the students is found to be ‘indecent’, schools shouldn’t be lenient. “Will not inculcate the idea of lesbianism in schools. It is against Bengal culture,” he said.
