Two homosexual women were physically assaulted on a London bus by a man after they refused to kiss each other as demanded by him. One of them was left with a broken jaw while the other woman got her nose broken.
Melania (28) and Chris (29) were travelling on a bus in West Hampstead when they were confronted by a group of men who realized the women were gay after they saw them holding hands. The miscreants reportedly walked up to their seats and started demanding that they kiss each other. “They got up out of their seats and walked over to where we were and started very aggressively harassing us. One of them stayed a couple of rows behind and was throwing coins at us. I did not engage with him at all. Initially, Melania was trying to deescalate the situation. She was being friendly but trying to keep them at bay,” Chris explained in a statement. They were brutally attacked by the men after they refused to oblige which left them bruised, broken, and bleeding.
Chris further stated how the couple was also robbed of their belongings. “Fighting broke out and I don’t know how we got from fighting on the top of the bus down to the lower deck but in that time frame they took my phone, her bag and they ran off the bus.” The couple, in an interview regarding the incident, said that this could be a possible hate crime as homophobia is still a matter of concern in the country.
