Popular Malayalam director Thulasidas has helmed the Tamil/Malayalam bilingual Thiraiku Varatha Kathai` (Girls` in Malayalam) which is releasing on this Diwali. The film has Nadhiya playing the central character of a police officer with Iniya, Aarthi Ganesh, Reshma Pasupaletti, Eden, Archana and Kovai Sarala. The uniqueness of this film is that it has no male characters.

Thiraiku Varatha Kathai` went for censors and the officials were irked by a few lesbian sequences and a duet song which they demanded to be deleted to get a certificate. Thulasidas, has said that a love affair between two nurses and their duet was filmed as a comic relief in this horror-thriller and not wanting to delay the release have agreed to chop the portions. The film has now been certified UA.
