Legendary songstress Lata Mangeshkar had admitted in recent interviews that she had taken a backseat from playback singing, as she was not too happy with today's music since it was more of 'Item track' beats, different from the ever lasting melodies of her 'Zamana'. But she had also added that she might do selective tracks if they were good.
And Music composer Nikhil Kamath is thrilled that the Nightingale chose to record a song for the sequel of India's 1st Gay commercial film DUNNO Y...Na Jaane Kyun.
The nightingale will croon to a 'love ballad', set to a soft rock beat- Jeena kya hai, jaana maine, jabse tumko jaana hai. The song will be picturised on Yesteryears legend Zeenat Aman, Yuvraaj Parashar, Kapil Sharma, Pakistani actress Sadia Khan, including a few European actors.
The sequel Dunno Y...Life Is A Moment, is being made in Hindi, English and Norwegian and has collaborative mix of Indian and European singers and composers. In a first, It is also a collaboration between Indian director Sanjay Sharma and Norwegian director Tonje Gjevjon.
Composer Nikhil Kamath adds ' Jeena kya hai, jaana maine, jabse tumko jaana hai is melodic trendy song of today which youngsters will connect instantly, replete with acoustic drums, electric guitars, choral orchestra and the nightingale's divine voice. Lataji had earlier sung Pal mein rishtey badalte hai in the original and the Norwegian collaborators loved the song and requested that we bring her on board again"
Infact the visibly ecstatic composer had 2 months earlier called Lataji and sang Jeena Kya Hai to her on the phone and the normally very selective songstress was very impressed by the melody as well as the soul stirring lyrics of Vimal Kashyap. it was a marathon 4 hour music session at her own studio which she sang each word flawlessly, which captured the mood of the love triangle, featuring a woman too.
The original film premiered in April 2010 at India's first mainstream gay film festival, the Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, and featured Yuvraaj and Kapil as two men in love.
Nikhil also revealed a few insights on the sequel to the gay love story "It's a story about relationships not just among the trio, but also between a mother and her son and between the parents. Jeena kya hai is a love ballad set in a soft rock beat and when I hear it today, I know only Lataji could have sung it."
Lead actor Yuvraj Parashar summed it perfectly when he said " In Israel they know only 2 Bollywood legends Raj Kapoor and Lata Mangeshkar".
