'Kaali' is one of the most anticipated movie of music composer/actor Vijay Antony. But seems like now the makers of the film are in a legal soup and thus an air of doubt prevails over its release.

The Chennai High Court had ordered a stay on the release of the film following a plea by William Alexander of Picture Box Company. William has stated that he was promised the distribution rights for 'Kaali' for compensating the loss incurred by 'Annadurai'. However, owing to the ongoing strike, he wasn't able to get territories which ended up delaying payments to Fathima Vijay Antony who is bankrolling 'Kaali'.

Reportedly, the delay in the settling of the payment had nudged the makers to break the promise. And now the court has directed Fathima Vijay Antony to compensate William with Rs.4.73 crore following which she can release 'Kaali'. 'Kaali' was set to hit the screens on April 13, but now we will have to wait for an official update from the team.
