Expectedly, 'Kantara' is leading to polarized debates across social media platforms. Sections of the Left-dominated media are blaming the blockbuster saying that the film is wrong in equating tribal culture with Hinduism. Rishab Shetty, the film's lead actor and director, has been criticized for observing that the Bhoota Kola tradition is a part of Hindu tradition. While on a recent visit to Tamil Nadu, the Sandalwood actor commented that it's only us who have to make movies that glorify our culture.
Rishab Shetty's pro-Hinduism remarks have not gone down well with Leftists. As per Netizens, those inclined to make anti-Hinduism remarks are scared of the widespread popularity of 'Kantara'. "This one single movie 'Kantara' has destroyed 50 years of left-liberal secular propaganda that sought to separate the Classical and the Folk. Naturally, they are unhappy. This movie brings out the unity between the two so unmistakably and beautifully," writes one Shivakumar, a Twitter user.
Twitter user Aabhas Maldahiyar writes, "These people have no clue about Hindu traditions. At first, they need to know that Bhoot is not equal to the ghost of exorcism! Bhootas are very well worshipped in many Hindu traditions. That’s diversity, not how you try to bring monochromatic faiths with Hindu Dharma to show diversity."
Meanwhile, 'Kantara' is surging ahead in the Telugu States with huge collections.
