The April 14 firing at Salman Khan's Bandra flat was aimed to scare him for not owing an apology for killing a blackbuck, venerated by the Bishnoi people in Rajasthan, not to injure the star. Vicky Kumar Gupta revealed this in his bail request turned in on Monday to the special MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) court.

Gupta and Sagar Kumar Pal carried out the attack under reportedly Lawrence Bishnoi gang direction from the sibling of the criminal living in Canada. Gupta stated in his petition, sent through counsel Amit Mishra and Susheel Mishra, he was victimised by circumstances. During the COVID-19 epidemic, he lost his laboring job in Tamil Nadu and asked Pal for assistance; he sent him to Jalandhar for employment. Gupta was told, upon arrival, nevertheless, he had to travel to Mumbai on an "auspicious religious mission."

Anmol Bishnoi told him of the scheme to attack Salman Khan's apartment when he arrived in Mumbai. Gupta said he took part as Anmol gave him his assurance he would be protected. His job consisted in riding the bike and carrying Pal, who fired the bullets.

Citing the protracted court process, Gupta, the only breadwinner in his family-including his elderly mother, wife, and two children-argued for bail. Special Judge BD Shelke has ordered the Mumbai police crime branch to answer the bail application and set August 13 for a hearing.

Nine persons- Gupta, Pal, and Anmol Bishnoi among others-have been named by the police on a 1,735-page chargesheet. Gupta, Sagarkumar Pal, Sonukumar Bishnoi, Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, Harpal Singh, and Anujkumar Thapan among others have been detained. While the others are still under court detention, Thapan allegedly passed suicide under police custody.
