Lata Mangeshkar contracts Covid-19, admitted to ICU

Legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar, who is 92 years old, has contracted Covid-19. She has been hospitalized. As per national media reports, the singer has been given treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. 

ANI has reported that Lata’s niece has described the Covid-19 symptoms as mild. It’s not clear if the Bharat Ratna has been admitted to the hospital out of abundant caution, given her age. 

In 2019, the singer had a viral chest infection and she got treated at a hospital. Since then, she did fine after the treatment. 

The feted singer is a hugely admired film personality. 

In recent days, several film celebs have contracted Covid-19. None of them has shown severe symptoms. ‘Baahubali’ fame Sathyaraj was admitted to a hospital in Chennai and he was discharged last night. Comedian Vadivelu is fine after treatment. Kamal Haasan, Bandla Ganesh and others are also doing fine. Mahesh Babu is mildly symptomatic and he is at his Hyderabad home, under self-isolation.
