Two people caught firing shots outside the Mumbai residence of Bollywood star Salman Khan on Sunday have been claimed by police to be associated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi of Haryana Gurugram. Out of them, Vishal has been found associating with Rohit Godara, a known member of the notorious Bishnoi gang involved in various heinous crimes, including the recent murder of businessman Sachin Munjal in March.
The CCTV video shows two suspects, both wearing caps and carrying a backpack, firing towards Khan's residence. One was in a white t-shirt along with a black jacket and denim pants, while the other wore a red t-shirt with denim pants. Before the attack, the accused had done a recce around Galaxy Apartments, where Khan's residence was. After abandoning the getaway motorcycle near Mount Mary Church, they made their way to Bandra railway station by rickshaw and have since left the city.
After the incident, Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, took the responsibility to warn Khan over social media. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde promised all support to Khan, noting the commitment to standing by the rule of law.
It was exposed last year by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that Khan features on the hit list of Lawrence Bishnoi due to the conviction he received in the 1998 black buck poaching case. Mumbai Police upgraded his security to Y+ level last year in response to a threatening call. He had issued a lookout circular against an Indian student, based in the UK, for sending threatening emails.
