Friends
This film proved out to be a complete family entertainer with equal dose of sentiment, romance, action and comedy. This film is the first blockbuster of Suriya's acting career, though his presence was subdued by Vijay who played the lead role in this film.
Nandha
Director Bala had given the much needed break for actor Vikram with his debut film 'Sethu. With 'Nandha' the master craftsman did the same for Suriya. This film portrayed Suriya as the 'angry young man'- a character template which has made wonders to many superstars of Indian film industry. In this political thriller, Suriya played an intellectual youth icon Michael Vasanth, who inspires youngsters to stay in the country and clean the politics instead of complaining about it. Though the film did not make wonders in the box office, it is one of the most memorable characters played by Suriya and increased his fan base among youngsters.
Ghajini
This is Suriya's first film with A.R.Murugadoss and also his first blockbuster film as a solo hero.
