Former Railways minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was grilled for more than seven hours by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the corruption in granting contracts of maintenance of two hotels owned by IRCTC in 2006. The entire seven hour questioning took place in the agency HQ with the former minister questioned on his land sanctions, the owners of the organizations, his involvement in the contracts and the deals made by companies that his son owns.
A calm Lalu Prasad Yadav mentioned that CBI were very cordial and exclaimed they were just doing their job, he also continued to mention that the NDA government was trying to bring down all the good work that he has done over the last few years by tarnishing his name. He also went on to say that he reformed Railways to yield a profit of Rs.7000 crore which the current government is unable to.
