Earlier this month, two masked men drilled their way into the Trichy outlet of the popular Lalitha Jewelry Group in Tamil Nadu. They robbed jewels worth Rs 13 Cr. The prime accused in the case, Murugan, surrendered at the Parappana Agrahara police station in Bengaluru and has been brought to TN by the police for interrogation.

It is said that Murugan had conducted daring heists at several places and always targetted banks, jewellery stores and rich people's houses. He and his gang of three Manikandan, Suresh and Ganeshan have so far stolen Rs 100 Cr worth but only Rs 4.5 Cr worth cash and valuables have been seized by the cops so far.

Murugan in his interrogation has reportedly stated that with the money that he stole, he led an extravagant lifestyle and even invested in the movie business. He also spent a lot of money on some small- time actresses and extras and has had affairs with him.

The thief also allegedly named a top young heroine who is said to have been very close to him and has had a physical relationship with him. However, according to sources, the police are reluctant to believe Murugan's ravings as his stories vary everyday.

Some reports have also claimed that the accused is an AIDS patient which has also sent shock waves in Kollywood, according to an investigative journal's report.
