Mohanlal's Onam film will be 'Mahasamudram'. The film which was in the floors from february will begin its last schedule in Thiruvananthapuram by May 22. The film is directed by Dr. S Janardhanan and is produced by Sureshkumar of Revathy Kalamandir. Mohanlal is playing the role of a fisherman for the first time in his career, in this film.

The film which is extensively shot in the sea will be packed with visual effects. The film also casts Rehman, Laila and Jagadheesh. Mohanlal, who had completed three super hits in a row with Naran, Thanmathra, and Rasathanthram has again answered his critics about his crowdpulling abilities. The immediate Mohanlal film to grace theatres before Onam will be 'Keerthi Chakra' in which he is playing the character of a border security commando.
