The Censor Board has on Sunday said that it won't certify 'Lakshmi's NTR' until the elections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are not over. Ram Gopal Varma, following the decision , has decided to approach the court against the CBFC.
"The CBFC in trying to delay the film for reasons of favouring someone by strangely relying on the model code of conduct meant for political parties and contesting candidates. CBFC is assuming the jurisdiction of Election Commission which is not vested in it and is withholding certification of #LakshmiNTR and constitutionally it cannot partake the role of Election Commission," RGV said.
"The CBFC has no authority to postpone watching the film on the ground of model code for conduct even before viewing, which amounts to a blatant violation of fundamental right of Freedom of Expression guaranteed under Article 19 of the Constitution of India," RGV further said.
The film may release only after April 11 if RGV loses the case.
