In an open letter penned to the T Minister KTR, Lakshmi Manchu has bemoaned the inconveniences caused during Ganesh festival, thanks to the thousands of pandals placed across Hyderabad.

“The Ganesh festival is not treated as a religious affair anymore but a competition! Every locality is putting all their energy into outdoing the other in the context of the grandeur of the celebrations. I suggest that there be a local Pandal among localities. This will not only encourage unity but also reinstate the motive of celebrating together and safeguard the tradition," she wrote in the letter.

"I had to bring this to your notice on a public forum so that people everywhere can address similar problems to you: so I know you will take necessary measures immediately. I also request you in the future to keep a cap on the width and height of the idols and have them monitored,” she further says.
