It is known that Lakshmi Manchu is playing a short but key role in Mani Ratnam's up-and-coming romantic entertainer. She had shot for some days a couple of months back for this film. Having completed her prior commitments for Gundello Godari, she is back on the sets of Mani's film.

Last leg of shoot with Manirathnam. I am living my dream. Never stop dreaming, an excited Lakshmi tweeted.

The film had to be shelved temporarily because of problems with Samantha's dates. After supposedly reconsidering Samantha, Mani opted for Tulasi (Radhika's younger daughter) as Gautham's (Karthik's son) pair. Aravind Swamy is playing a pivotal role.
