On Monday, a media report from Mumbai claimed that the makers of 'Laal Singh Chaddha' are in deep trouble due to mounting losses incurred by the comedy drama. The report, quoting sources, even claimed that distributors are pressing the producers to compensate them for the so-called heavy losses. It added that Aamir Khan is in a state of depression due to the 'humiliating' failure of the film.
However, that is not the case as per Ajit Andhare, the CEO of Viacom 18. The film, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, was not released via distributors in the first place. “There are no external distributors. The film has been distributed by V18Studios. No money is lost in the first place," Viacom 18's CEO has been quoted as saying.
In fact, 'LSC' is doing very well overseas. It is expected to mint six million dollars there in its lifetime run. This is a very good figure. 'LSC' is a flop at the Indian box office. But theatrical revenue is not the only source of revenue. There are some reports that 'LSC' was sold to a streaming giant for a massive amount. Given these realities, Aamir going into depression looks completely wild imagination.
