In a rare incident Rima Kallingal was denied permission to perform dance in a show conducted in Kuwait. An NRI business magnet K. G. Abraham`s NBTC Group has organized the show. The police denied permission saying that it is illegal. The event was named Festive Night. Rima came early and was getting ready for the dance performance. Then the police intervention came and they cited the reason that women are not allowed to dance in public according to their law. Thereafter the organizers had to drop Rima`s performance.

She was seen very tense after that and she just sat with the audience as spectator. The other performers were music director M. Jayachandran, Playback singers Vijay Yesudas, Vidhu Pratap, Vijay Prakash, Sithara and Sayonora Philip.Meanwhile the organizers reported that they withdrew the dance of Rima due to a threat. But they did not reveal from who the threat came.
