Biju Menon is happy to have played Kuttiyappan of 'Leela'. The actor says that each and every Malayali man would have a Kuttiyappan in him. This facet which is common in Malyali sensibility is explored in the movie much humourlessly. 'Leela' is not for a critical appraisal from an artistic angle. The movie is an entertainer designed to entertain.

Kuttiyappan says and does everything seriously. However, his quirky and eccentric mannerisms lend humour to whatever he does. The movie's scribe says that the movie has totally reworked the short story from which it has been adapted. A lot of things have been added. The recently released poster which shows the images of EMS, Marlyn Monroe and Jackie Chan is an instance of added elements in the movie.
