Veteran director Bharathiraja has launched his dream project 'Kutraparambarai'. Bharathiraja had narrated the script to Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan as he wanted him to act in the lead role. However things could not materialize then. Now Bharathiraja himself will be playing the lead role.
Kutraparambarai Act was enacted by the British Government to oppress a people belonging to particular castes. The peaceful protests against this draconian act was silenced by the Britishers with guns and pistols. Many protester's sacrificed their lives in this firing incident. Screenwriter Rathnakumar has written a script based on these many real life incidents.
The project was launched with a formal pooja in Perungamanallur, a village near Usilampatti town in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu. This is the village where the Britishers fired and killed the protesters fighting for the repeal of the controversial act, many decades ago.
Rathnakumar has penned the Story, Screenplay and dialogues of the film. Sabu Cyril will take care of Art Direction. Bharathiraja's long time camera partner B.Kannan will be handling the cinematography. Vairamuthu will be penning the lyrics for all the songs. The remaining members of the star cast and technical crew will be announced soon.
