The wait is over for the fans of Kung Fu Panda as the release date of the much-awaited movie franchise was announced officially. It will be the first instalment in the ‘Kung Fu Panda series since 2016, when DreamWorks animation, completed a planned trilogy.

‘Kung Fu Panda 4’ is scheduled for release on March 8, 2024, according to an announcement made on Friday by Universal Pictures. The first ‘Kung Fu Panda’ became one of the highest-grossing original animated pictures and brought in over $630 million worldwide. The entire series spawned over $1.8 billion in box office revenue.Inspired by traditional martial arts and set in ancient China, the story traces the life of Po Ping a hyperactive panda bear living in a fantastical depiction of ancient China. Po is selected to be the ‘Dragon Warrior,’, in the franchise's first movie, which was released in 2008. He also gets to meet his lost parents in the second movie.

The Kung Fu Panda franchise began in 2008, with the first film getting nominated for an Oscar Award for Best Animated Feature. It featured the voices of Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, and Seth Rogen. Due to its success, it was followed by two more sequels in 2011 and 2016. The new film is now all set to return after 6 years.
