While the makers of the Kunal Kohli-Jennifer Winget starrer romantic comedy 'Phir Se' were accused of plagiarism by writer Jyoti Kapoor, Kunal defends his film clarifying that the matter is sub judice and the court has granted an ad interim stay and kept the matter post vacations.

Kunal says, "I don`t have any problem with anyone. I have no issues with Jyoti. I wish her the best. What I have learnt from this experience that the free exchange of ideas is no longer permissible and I would go a step further to say it is expressly prohibited. The debate on copyright and plagiarism is settled, it is neither. The industry has to move towards a more closed and protective environment with regards to work in progress. What is left to be decided is merely one principal aspect, what is the value of an idea which should be in direct proportion to the authorship."

"For all concerned, the matter is sub judice. The court has granted an ad interim stay and kept the matter post vacations. We are hopeful justice will prevail," adds Kunal.
