Kullanari Koottam
Madurai seems to rule the roost in Kollywood. Joining the list of movies made around the temple town is `Kullanari Koottam'. While `Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu' fame Vishnu is the protagonist, Ramya Nambeesan plays his heroine.
Sri Balaji, who worked as co-director in `Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu', has helmed this hilarious entertainer, produced by V Ashish Jain on Darshan Creations banner.
Says Vishnu, who is optimistic of Kullanari Koootam's fortune at the box office, "It's a simple script and its screenplay is the plus point. I play a middle-class guy who has a wicked sense of humour."
Saying that he had worked hard on his body language and dialogue delivery, the actor adds the above two things are essential for any comedy flick. "But I felt very comfortable on sets since I knew Balaji since Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu days."
Interestingly, there is no romantic scene in the film. "There's a scene where the hero proposes to the heroine, but their love is captured in a song. Unlike some Madurai-based films, there is no violence, bloodshed and aruva in Kullanari Koottam," explains the director.
Bairavan, Appukutty, Suri, Pandi and Sundar from `VKK' are also in the cast. "A major of technicians had worked in Venilla Kabbadi Kuzhu before. Hence we all vbied well", says the director.
Heaping laurels on music composer Selva Ganesh, Sri Balaji says, "He has come up with catchy tunes that are different from each other. Songs have become hits even before the film's release."
Ramya Nambeesan too is equally thrilled. She says, "The whole unit was friendly. It was a fabulous experience to shoot with them. The movie has shaped up really well. And I assure wholesome entertainment for the audience."
With all work, the movie will hit the screens on 25 March.
