India win 1st ODI, as Shami and Kuldeep rip apart Kiwis!

India has won the first ODI against New Zealand held at Napier by 8 wickets. Batting first, New Zealand lost their openers Guptill and Munro early, dismissed by Shami, and after skipper Williamson and Ross Taylor tried to steady the innings with a partnership, Chahal dismissed Taylor 24(41) and Latham in quick succession, leaving Kiwis struggling at 4/76.
Even as wickets kept tumbling down at the other end, skipper Williamson kept the scoreboard ticking, before he was scalped by Kuldeep Yadav, after scoring a valuable 64(81). Yadav did a quick work of the tail to ultimately bundle out New Zealand for 157. Kuldeep Yadav had an impressive 4/39, while Shami scalped 3/19.
Chasing 158, the Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan began cautiously and as Dhawan was scoring at one end, Bracewell dismissed Rohit 11(24). After an important 91 runs partnership between skipper Kohli and Dhawan, the captain was dismissed by Ferguson after a fine knock of 45(59). Dhawan ended on an unbeaten 75(103)*, as India reached 156/2, winning the match by 8 wickets in Duckworth Lewis method with 85 balls to spare.
