Laughter is one element that makes us humans stand apart. Some people say humor is the outcome of madness. Yet, some agree that the sense of humor is the much needed armor. Joy in one's heart and a smile on one's lips is the sign that depicts the person is deep down has a pretty good grasp on life and its ways. People of modern days fail to smile often and it has become the much needed ingredient in the busy life of contemporary times.

Based on the humor quotient, director Srinivas Reddy has made the movie `Kuberulu' with a tagline "Vallaki Anni Appule", starring Shivaji, Ali, Farzana, Krishna Bhagavan, Kausha in the lead roles. The movie got released on the 4th of December. A review is presented below on the same.

Story

Three simpletons Yarlagadda Siva Ram (Shivaji), Chitti Babu (Ali) and Rambabu aka Rambo (Krishna Bhagavan) hail from the village called Devarapalli. Their life is pretty ordinary yet they dream big all the time.

Being an ardent fan of chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, Siva Ram has a habitual practice of imitating the leader. He is interested in politics and cherishes a long time dream to become the Sarpanch of his village. In his first step, he makes an attempt to lend a helping hand for the prosperity of Devarapalli. But, as a twist of fate, his endeavor fails which lands him in a pile of debts. Unable to face the rage of his fellow villagers, he travels to Hyderabad.

Accompanied with his buddy Chitti Babu, he lands in the big city with lots of hope. Rambabu from their native village gives shelter to the runaway duo in Bhagyanagar Colony.

During his stay in the city, Siva Ram comes across a chance encounter with doctor Kalpana. On a fateful day, he eavesdrop Kalpana's conversation with Saleem (Dr Sivaprasad), a gangster who's involved in Nizam Jewellery's theft, regarding a cell phone. The story starts off at this point and events unfold as it progresses.

Did SivaRam's aspiration to be Sarpanch come true? In what way is the cell phone involved in the plot? One should see the movie to get these questions answered.

Performance of Artists

Shivaji in the role of Yarlagadda Siva Ram who imitates YSR, has delivered a noteworthy performance. Similarly, Ali as Chitti babu who apes Chandra Babu Naidu has exhibited a good acting. Both of them in their own voices have attractively imitated the political icons of the state. Krishna Bhagavans punch dialogues are placed at apt timing.

Farzana's acting in the doctor's role is just fine. Kausha as Muntha-Biryani Muthyalu, Telangana Sekunthala as Swarnakka who gives credits, MS Narayanan as doctor, Raghu babu as Reverse-gear SI, Dr.Sivaprasad as Don Saleem, Chalapathi Rao, Kavitha did well within the scope of their roles.

Technicians Work

Music composed by Jeevan Thomas for the lyrics written by Bhaskara Bhatla Ravikumar are good. Even though three cameramen have worked in this movie namely Arunkumar, Vijaykumar and Ram Pinisetty, except a song featuring Jyothi lakshmi and Kausha, the cinematography doesn't dazzle at any point.

Fights by Ganesh, and punch dialogues written by Dasari Brahmam are the saving grace of this movie.

Director's portrayal

The king of ring when it comes to comedy flicks is Srinivas Reddy. As a director, he has reaped a whole lot of success with his hilarious entertainers. But, in this movie it appears as if he got carried away. The maker has given utmost importance on the humor quotient but failed to render the same for the script. The director clearly failed to notice this crucial error in both the story and screenplay.

It is disappointing to see a noticeable lack in values of making, although the banner is new.

Criticism

Srinivas Reddy did acclaim huge successes with his comedy entertainers. He continues his trend in this movie and tickles the funny bone plausibly. Yet, a lack of attention in scripting lags the movie behind. If the plot is made strong and comedy is used as an ingredient, maybe it would have become a entertaining flick. But alas, the filmmaker couldn't help Kuberulu clear his debts.
