Speaking at the Prapancha Telugu Mahasabhalu event held in Hyderabad, Megastar Chiranjeevi urged everybody to love Telugu and pass the language over to future generations.

"Taking inspiration from sabhas like this, let's learn to respect our language and its legacy. What is a mother tongue? It's the tongue in which we dream and in which we think. We all like to converse in our mother tongue. I thank KCR garu for his endeavour to celebrate the language. He has taken the right decision by making Telugu-learning compulsory from Class 1-12. It's a revolutionary decision. It goes to show how much he respects Telugu," the 'Sye Raa' actor said.

"When KTR invited me to this event, I was congratulating him in English on some of his achievements. But KTR suddenly said to me that it's not proper to do speak in English in the context of a Telugu sabha being held. His objection got me thinking. I said sorry to him then and there," Chiru revealed.

"When I was a Minister, I observed that those whose mother tongue is Hindi take pride in conversing in that language. Tamilians feel so happy while conversing in their language. But when it comes to our people, we somehow don't converse in Telugu. Let's love Telugu. I have made it a point that the children in my family speak in Telugu despite the fact that they attend English-medium schools," Chiru said.
