The official handle of 'RRR' asked him about the stocks of oxygen cylinders and Remedesiver, which are being sold at extremely high prices. "Citizens from a poor socio-economic background will benefit if the government of Telangana opens counters and sells oxygen cylinders at MRP in government hospitals," the makers of the Rajamouli movie wrote to KTR.
Replying to them, KTR said that the challenge of Oxygen availability is faced across India. He claimed that the Government of India has taken complete control over distribution by States.
As for the shortage of Remdesivir vials, KTR said that the state is doing an audit of private hospitals on consumption. "Have found some cases of indiscriminate usage and we are also told doctors are under," he said.
About the vaccination, the Minister said, "So far in Telangana out of the total 45 plus population of 92.24 lakhs, we have vaccinated 45.37 lakh people with first dose. Second dose has been given to more than 10.3 lakh people."
When is the vaccine shortage issue going to be resolved? KTR said that Telangana is working on getting increased supplies from the Centre. He added that the KCR government is also simultaneously engaged in discussions with vaccine manufacturers. "The supplies will only start meeting demand across the country hopefully by late July or early August. Till then it’s going to be a challenge," he added.
