TRS leader and Minister KT Rama Rao has boasted about the Hyderabadi biryani being the Numero Uno dish in terms of taste. When senior journalist Vir Sanghvi had said on Twitter that he can eat Hyderabadi Biryani just once every two months but Kerala Biryani every day, Niti Ayog's Amitabh Kant approvingly said, "The best biryani in the world is Thalassery fish biryani from Paris restaurant. It’s made using short-grained local rice with white aikora or kingfish also known as king mackerel in Thalassery (Kerala). It's awesome and beats all other biryanis by miles."

This is when KTR waded into the cool debate and projected Hyderabad Biryani as the best. "All bragging rights on best biryani in the world belong rightfully to Hyderabad, Amitabh Ji. Dare I say that the rest are only poor imitations. Even UNESCO recognized our gourmet culture recently & conferred the title of ‘creative city of gastronomy’," KTR wrote.
