KSD: AppalRaju
Ramgopal Varma's comeback in Telugu after a long hiatus of almost a decade, Katha-Screenplay-Darsakathvam-Appalraju is the most awaited film of this year.
With hilarious spoof on hurdles of an amatuer film maker who enters Filmnagar with dreams of making a movie, KSD has generated so much buzz around it already that people are calling it a pre-release hit. Sunil plays the role of Appalraju an aspiring director, Swati his assistant, Adarsh a film hero and Sakshi a top actress in the industry.
The story revolves around Appalraju an honest and genuine young man whose dream is to make a Telugu film. His vulnerabilities, threats, competition, hassles and encounter with reality in the industry is believed to have been picturised with great situational comedy in this movie. Bramhanandam who rose to stardom with his role of Dada in RGV's 'Money' years ago, plays the charecter of a financier in this film and Venumadhav is his gunman. Bramhy even sang a song for this movie. Tanikella Bharani, Krishnudu, Raghubabu, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Kallu Chidambaram,Ali, M S Narayana are seen playing the roles of other directors, film critics, Public relations officers et al who rule Telugu cinema industry.
Koti composed music for it and the songs poking fun at existing directors with lyrics 'Evadabba Sothu Kadu Ra Talentu'.. and publicity in cinema industry is already a rage among movie buffs already. From the launch of the movie, theme song, audio launch of songs, promotions and publicity, everything about this film was quirky and done in true RGV style. The movie surely has high expectations not only because it is Varma's re-entry into Tollywood but also because this film takes potshots at everyone who is important in Tollywood. Drawn from Varma's own experiences and hear say, this cinema on cinema is the undoubtedly most entertaining take on entertainment industry.
Though it was expected to hit the screens in January, it got postponed to February 18th due to delay in shooting, thanks to Tollywood strike in December.
