Superstar Krishna’s 1986 epic historical film ‘Simhasanam’ is up for a re-release. The film will have a big release sometime in 2023. Known as the first 70mm 4-track Stereophonic sound Tollywood movie, it was directed by Krishna himself.
The all-time blockbuster is going to have an 8K restoration with Dolby Sound. The technological upgrade is already in progress.
Starring Krishna as Vikrama Simha and Aditya Vardhana, the classic featured Jayaprada as Princess Alakananda Devi, Kantha Rao as Maharajah of Dasarna, Radha as Jaswanthi and Kaikala Satyanarayana as Rajguru. Mandakini, Gummadi, M Balayya and Prabhakar Reddy had other roles.
With music by Bappi Lahiri, its cinematography was by VSR Swamy. All songs in the movie was rendered by the Raj Sitaram-P Susheela duo.
Meanwhile, ‘Okkadu’ is going to be re-released on January 8, 2023. Directed by Gunasekhar and starring Bhumika Chawla as the heroine and Prakash Raj as the villain, its music was by Mani Sharma.
