Kovur MLA stages dharna after being booked for violation

Prasanna Kumar Reddy, the YSRCP MLA of Kovur in Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh, today staged a dharna after he and some of his followers were booked for violating the ongoing lockdown code. As per reports, Reddy on Friday distributed groceries to hundreds of people on the occasion of his birthday. As many as 4,500 people gathered at a place, thereby leading to violation of the social distancing code.

The politician today staged a dharna at a police station with a few of his followers. This was a further violation of Section 144.

A similar incident has been reported from Karnataka. Turuvekere BJP MLA Masale Jayaram on Friday celebrated his birthday by serving cake and biryani to 100 people in Tumkur district. This was in violation of Section 144.
