RIP! Kovai Guna the first title winner of 'Kalakka Povathu Yaaru' passed away

News has just come in that popular mimicry artist and standup comedian Kovai Guna passed away. He was reportedly admitted at the Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment for a long time kidney ailment a few days back but unfortunately did not recover. He is survived by his wife and two daughters who are married and settled.
Many talented unknown artistes have become popular through reality shows and none more than those who participated in ones such as 'Kalakkapovadhu Yaaru' on Vijay TV and 'Asathapovadhu Yaaru' on Sun TV during the early 2000s. Kovai Guna impressed viewers on 'KPY' during its first season in 2005 and went on to win the title.
Later Guna moved to Sun TV and participated in 'Asatha Povadhu Yaaru' and his combo with Madurai Muthu was the most favorite of viewers. He was very much skilled in recreating the body languages and voices of Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan, Nadiga Vel M.R. Radha and legendary comedians Goundamani and Janagaraj.
Guna who was considered the guru of several contemporary mimicry artistes last attended an event in Coimbatore to pay tribute to actor Mayilsamy who passed a away a few weeks earlier. Tributes are pouring in for the rare talent that Guna was. RIP!
