The top director of Tamil films KS Ravikumar knows the trick of the trade of box office. He has measured the contents to suit the image of Kichcha Sudeep and masses in Kotigobba 2. A clever director has given many joyous moments for the fans of Sudeep and at one of the layers brings in the issue of ‘inevitability’ in life. The love winning over everything is of course a jaded theme. The music from D Iman and cinematography from Rajarathnam are in top gear.
The timely thought in an inconvenient stage forces for the father to pretend. When his young son is pounced in the playground, father character Prakash Raj one trick makes Sathya (Sudeep) to continue it further in life. While this portion is past, in the present scenario Sathya is also Shiva. In the role of Shiva (hairstyle left and right difference) is fond of Indian currency notes. He has looted nearly Rs.270 crores - in two of his biggest breakthroughs - it is a black money so complaint is not registered. Shiva loves the world best perfume coming from currency notes. What the police is not able to track, Sathya lover Shuba (Nithya Menen) does it. She wants Sathya to give up the activity he is carrying out in Shiva name. It is the love that wins but how is interesting climax. The catch me if you can personality Sathya and Shiva finally budge but again keep audience guessing in the last shot where the announcement comes that Rs.300 crore is robbed again.
The style, looks, action and dance of Kichcha Sudeep is delectable. It is a fan fare. The costumes, hair style, dialogue are addition plus points. Dr Vishnuvardhana in a few shots in the opening title song obviously increases his fan following. Sudeep had already taken the title ‘Vishnuvardhana’ in his previous film. Now the ‘Kotigobba’ is also Dr Vishnuvardhana starring film that is ‘Kotigobba 2’ in K S Ravikumar direction. Nithya Menen does not miss your eyes when she appears on screen. It is a very gritty role for Nithya Menan. The ‘Proof’ she asks for everything is something unusual.
Nazer as super cop, Devaraj as orphan house protector, Ravishanker as comedy laced cop, Chikkanna and Sadhu Kokila in comedy track provide good relief. Sharat Lohitashva and Mukesh Tiwari as black money holders are key rabble rousers in the film. D Iman title song, Saluthillave Saluthillave..Hoo Na Uhoo Na Hele Maina.(Maina is Nithya Menon earlier Kannada film) are well scored. For this action and family based cinema Rajarathnam has given his best. On the minus points - the film is lengthy of 162 minutes and 25 seconds. 20 minutes chopped, it would be crisp and tidy. At the outset - inevitability forces you to pretend, love is stronger than money - KS Ravikumar base points in this ‘Kotigobba 2’.
