Kollywood to save more than Rs. 50 Cr per annum

The Kollywood strike came to an end on Tuesday night and Vishal, along with his Tamil cinema compatriots, are quite happy.  "Yes, the revamp is over.  We are good to go for theatrical releases and shoot starts soon.  E-cinema rates reduced to 50%. D cinema on the way.  Computerised ticketing from June. Tn cinema to be 100% transparent.  Online tcketing to be subsidized.  The flexibility of txtng will benefit small movies," Vishal tweeted out after the strike ended.

As per Prashanth Rangaswamy, a movie tracker, "What Vishal and SR Prabhu have done: Every small and medium budget producer will save at least Rs. 20-30 lakh rupees in the form of projection cost.  As an industry, Kollywood will save at least Rs. 50 crore rupees per year from here on."

'Mercury' is the first film to be releasing in Tamil Nadu after the strike came to an end.  In other States, the Prabhu Deva-starrer released last week.
