In spite of a cricket Test match currently on in Chennai and the final examinations has begun for school students, Kollywood have lined up a flurry of movies releasing this weekend.

The movie hitting the screens this weekend include ‘Vedha’ starring Arun Vijay, Prithviraj’s ‘Sathya’, all newcomer starrer ‘Tharagu’, ‘Kattuviriyan’ featuring Malavika in dual roles, ‘Gayathri IPS’ featuring item girl Mumaith Khan in the lead role besides Tamil dubbing of the Hollywood blockbuster ‘D-War’.

Theatre-owners are confident that people will throng in good numbers. ‘Vedha’ is a romantic entertainer while ‘Sathya’ is a dubbed version of Prithviraj’s Malayalam hit featuring Priyamani in the female lead. ‘Kattuviriyan’ produced by Kalaipuli G Sekaran features Malavika in dual roles and there are enough glamour in it to attract youths.

2007 has been relatively an average year so far for Kollywood with only a handful of movies going on to make some profits at the box-office. The producers, distributors and theatre-owners are hoping that these movies go on to become hits.
