The gory gang-rape of an innocent 8 year old girl Asifa has left the nation in shock, anger and disappointment. Protests are gaining traction to make the maximum punishment possible for the perpetrators with eminent figures of the political and the film fraternity voicing their angst against the issue.

Many actors and actresses of the north touted support by holding placards with messages and sharing it on their social pages. Our stars down south were also quick to stand up and show their concern for the issue.

For example, actor Jayam Ravi has stated that we have lost our humanity to a decimal point and it is a shame for our country. Vishnu Vishal pointed out how when a ‘wink’ became so famous, this issue is still to be addressed in a serious as a matter of fact manner. Varalaxmi was also very much disappointed with the state of affiars with actress Amy Jackson stressing the need for ‘peace’ as a religion.
