What is it all about?

The god, the phenomenon, the ultra magnificent, the ultimate Rajinikanth is back and Vow!!.. around fours years before `Enthiran' (Robot in Hindi) the Thalaiva along with Shankar turned the heads of the west and now with `Kochadaiiyaan' the super star blesses Indian cinemas motion capture animation as director Soundarya Rajinikanth adds dazzlingly spectacular pages in India's animation history.

`Kochadaiiyaan' is a true blue Indian period blockbuster completely dipped in Indian ethos entertainingly made with great heart and effort. The result will be faithful to superstar's followers and appealing to those who love Indian cinema in its full grandeur.

The Story

K.S. Ravikumar pens an entertaining, periodical action adventure where a fearless warrior Rana (Rajinikinath) fights to restore his father Kochadaiiyaan's lost glory. At a time when the south of India was ruled by two warring Kings of Kalingpura - King Mahendra Raj (Jackie Shroff) and Kottaipattanam - King Rishikodayan (Naseer) the enmity between them separates Kottaipattanam loyal Kochadaiiyaan from his son who later leads the army of rival Kalingpura. After proving his loyalty to King Mahendra Raj Rana in grippingly interesting sequences manages to gain the confidence of the rival King Rishikodayan and how Rana wins back his father's pride from both the Kings forms the crux of this magnum opus.

What to look out for

Soundarya Rajinikanth in her very first attempt as a helmer turns brave heart having all the resources at her disposal she opts for a motion capture animation picture and writes Indian cinema's animation history. It is a tough task to motion capture a phenomenon like Rajinikanth who for his fans can do anything in reel or real. A superstar who has always done exceptional for his fans. Anything going wrong on capturing Rajinikanth and his trademark mannerisms, style would have being suicidal but Soundarya and her team of animators do a fabulous job in motion capturing Rajinikanth to perfection.  Kamlesh Pandey dialogues are in sync with the era. Resul Pookuty sound designing and Anthony's editing compliment the director's vision very well. Rahman's music adds to the glory. Shobana, Sarathkumar, Jackie Shroff and Nassar provide great support Deepika Padukone as Princess Vadha is gorgeous. Choreography by Saroj Khan, Raju Sundaram, Chinni Prakash, Shobana, adds colours to the grandeur.. worth mentioning is the Tandav on Rajinikanth. Superb. Rajiv Menon cinematography is terrific.

What not

The lip sync is not up to mark. Rajinikanth is motion captured marvelously but the same cannot be said for Jackie Shroff

Conclusion: `Kochadaiiyaan' is a jump ahead in Indian animation. This motion capture by Soundraya is a historic, dazzling, entertainer of epic proportions having the Thalaiva in a never before avatar. Watch it you will be gazed by the ultra magnificent Rajinikanth. No wonder if you start jiggling your 3D glasses in excitement on his entry!!!!.
