If you thought only Arvind Kejriwal, Venakaiah Naidu (before he became VP, of course) and our own KTR are the only politicians who have reviewed movies on Twitter, you are patently wrong.
In the days when 140-character reviews on Twitter or giving bytes (as Naidu did in the case of 'Oopiri' and other movies) was not a given, veteran BJP leader LK Advani was a serious-minded film critic at 'Organizer' (RSS's publication) and 'Motherland'. Advani, who would later lead the Ramjanbhoomi Movement and seal the status of his party years later, would pen reviews of Hindi movies as a Sangh heavyweight. His reviews were part of a column named 'Cine Notes by Netra'.
In 1958 when the Jana Sangh was defeated in the Delhi local body polls, Advani and Vajpayee, who were very sad, decided to watch Raj Kapoor's 'Phir Subha Hogi' at Golcha Cinema theatre for relief.
Advani, thus, has always been a movie buff. As recently as this year, Aamir Khan hosted 'Secret Superstar' for the former Home Minister of India. Earlier, he had watched '3 Idiots' and 'PK'.
