Telangana Congress President, Anumula Revanth Reddy, is on the verge of assuming the role of the state's Chief Minister after the party's decisive triumph in the Assembly election. The swearing-in ceremony, slated for December 7, will feature Reddy and a select group of ministers, a decision reached unanimously in the Congress Legislature Party meeting in Hyderabad, with the final approval resting with the party high command.
Anumula Revanth Reddy's Political Odyssey
Originating from Mahboobnagar, Reddy commenced his political journey with the ABVP during his student years and later aligned with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi). Elected as an MLC in 2007 as an independent candidate, he subsequently joined the Telugu Desam Party. A notable achievement was his victory in the 2014 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections from the Kodangal seat, securing a substantial vote share of 46.45 percent. Despite a brief association with the TDP, Reddy joined Congress in 2017.
Navigating Political Peaks and Valleys
While facing internal criticism in the Congress for modifying the state chief's approach, he garnered unwavering support from the party's high command. Positioned as a prominent leader in Telangana, he stood shoulder to shoulder with CM KCR during the elections. The victory sparked spirited chants of 'CM-CM' from jubilant Congress workers, symbolizing a shift in the political landscape.
Triumphs and Setbacks
Reddy's political journey boasts a victory in the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat in 2019 by a margin of 10,919 votes. Appointed as the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee in 2021, he led the party in the 2023 Telangana elections, clinching success in Kodangal but encountering defeat in Kamareddy against BJP's K Venkata Ramana Reddy.
In the aftermath of these results, Anumula Revanth Reddy emerges as a pivotal figure, poised to navigate the intricate political terrain as the imminent Chief Minister of Telangana.
