On Thursday morning, after KTR questioned the Centre's vaccination policy, G Kishan Reddy replied to the Telangana Minister, saying that the Government of India has vaccinated crores of citizens for free already.
"The Government has toiling since Day 1 to ensure there is enough supply of vaccines to States. So far, 13 crore vaccine doses have been administered by the States and another few crores are in stock or in the pipeline. All these doses have been given free by the GoI to state governments," the Minister of State for Home Affairs wrote.
He added that, on the request by States, vaccines can now be sourced directly by them and administered to all age groups. "Many States have already announced free vaccines to their citizens. Even after 1st May, GoI will continue to procure & give all vaccine doses in its 50% quota to states for free," he added.
States such as Uttar Pradesh and Assam have already announced a free vaccine policy.
